Despite its trade intensity, ASEAN is still not achieving the full potential of digitalisation in logistics the way the European Union has done. There are gains to be captured that are missing due to a lack of coordination from ASEAN Member States (AMS) which could be improved through the creation of better forums and channels of information exchange. Covid-19 has highlighted this vulnerability and serves as an opportunity to improve coordination.
This paper will assess institutional challenges facing ASEAN logistics digitalisation before evaluating this against the model adopted by the EU.
